Applying to
become an Accredited Landlord

How to become an Accredited Landlord Today?

Landlord Accreditation Scotland is a voluntary scheme by which landlords can assure tenants that the tenancy arrangement they have adheres to the high standards as outlined in the Scottish Core Standards for Accredited Landlords. It is also a means quality landlords operating within these standards receive the recognition and support they deserve.

The standards were designed to be reasonable and realistic; landlords who already carry out good management practices will find themselves well on the way to achieving them. Once accredited, you are required to attend one of the LAS Core Standards training session annually.  Courses are available around the country throughout the year.

You can apply to become an accredited Landlord by completing the online form here or by requesting an application form from the LAS office.

Compliance with the Scottish Core Standards for Accredited Landlords will ensure that:

  • Landlords, tenants and community members enjoy the benefit of good dwelling conditions, competent management and considerate neighbourly behaviour
  • Misunderstandings and disputes are reduced
  • Where problems do occur they are promptly resolved

Your commitment to meeting the standards is a method of showing that your services are higher than the legal minimum requirements.

How to become an Accredited Landlord Today?

You can apply to become accredited on-line or by contacting the LAS office to request an application form. The form whether on-line or printed should be read and completed in conjunction with the Scottish Core Standards for Accredited Landlords & Agents. The application consists of a self-certification Landlord Accreditation Checklist which enables landlords / letting agents to confirm that they do meet the required standard.

There is no charge to a landlord to become accredited. There is a charge to letting agents dependant on the number of properties managed (details can be seen on the Letting Agent page).
