Every tenant in Scotland has the right to raise an action at the FtT, should they believe that their landlord has not complied with a relevant regulation or breached legislation. In the first of this series of webinars John Blackwood, Chairman of Landlord Accreditation Scotland (LAS) and Chief Executive of Scottish Association with Landlords will share lessons learned from past cases raised at the First-tier Tribunal (Housing and Property Chamber) (FtT). Hearing about cases that have come before the tribunal can provide landlords and letting agents with valuable insight in how past decisions have been made.
From 1 December 2017, the FtT began to receive applications that would previously have been dealt with in the Sheriff Courts, of non-criminal matters arising from regulated, assured tenancies and short assured tenancies. The Chamber deals with other non-criminal matters arising from the Private Residential Tenancy (Private Housing (Tenancies) (Scotland) Act 2016 such as evictions, applications for rent assessments and drawing up of terms and also deals with cases arising from letting agent legislation.
Who is this webinar for?
The session, which is delivered virtually, is recommended for all landlords and letting agents regardless of whether they have ever been in the position of having to deal with the Tribunal.

Webinar FAQs
LAS webinars have been created to allow us to bring you the information we would have providing when we were with you face to face.
We have done our best to replicate the experience you had when you were in the room with us, so that we can continue to provide you with the information you need to continue to manage your rental properties well and the updates you need during COVID-19.
Can I still ask questions in the same way as I could at the face to face courses?
Yes, you can. You will not be on camera when you do this. There is the facility to ask questions all the way through the webinar and we will answer as many of these as we can on the day
No. We won’t be able to see you and neither will anyone else attending the webinar
Still not sure a webinar is for you?
Please call the LAS team and we can chat to you about webinar and answer any questions you have.
