Introduction to mediation techniques for letting agents
The aim of this online workshop is to support agents in their “mediating role ” between private landlords and tenants and is delivered by Scottish Mediation. After looking at conflict and how it escalates this workshop moves on to demonstrate how skills and techniques used in mediation can help agents to effectively manage relationships between landlords and tenants in the private rented sector.
The session considers how best to manage and resolve conflict with a view to avoiding costly and time-consuming disputes, tenancies ending prematurely, deposit disputes, and cases being referred to the Housing and Property Chamber of the First Tier Tribunal.
At the end of the workshop you will be able to –
- Understand some of the causes of conflict and how it escalates
- Use a number of tools used in mediation to resolve conflict
- Understand the benefits of mediation and how to access it
The workshop is delivered on Zoom and enables participation and sharing of experiences.
Qualified letting agents can record this as 3 hours towards required training in line with Letting Agent Registration regulations

Webinar FAQs
LAS webinars have been created to allow us to bring you the information we would have providing when we were with you face to face.
We have done our best to replicate the experience you had when you were in the room with us, so that we can continue to provide you with the information you need to continue to manage your rental properties well and the updates you need during COVID-19.
Can I still ask questions in the same way as I could at the face to face courses?
Yes, you can. You will not be on camera when you do this. There is the facility to ask questions all the way through the webinar and we will answer as many of these as we can on the day
No. We won’t be able to see you and neither will anyone else attending the webinar
