Introduction to mediation techniques for letting agents

The aim of this workshop is to support agents in their “mediating role” between private landlords and tenants.  After looking at conflict and how it escalates, this workshop moves on to demonstrate how skills and techniques used in mediation can help agents to effectively manage relationships between landlords and tenants in the private rented sector, with a view to avoiding costly and time-consuming disputes, tenancies ending prematurely, deposit disputes, and cases being referred to the Housing and Property Chamber of the First Tier Tribunal. This course is for letting agents only and attending this training can be recorded as 3 hours of CPD.

At the end of the workshop you will be able to:

  • understand some of the causes of conflict and how it escalates
  • use a number of tools used in mediation to resolve conflict
  • understand the benefits of mediation and how to access it.

The workshop is an introduction to issues that are explored in more depth in the CPD events – Working with Conflict, Effective Communication and Good Practice in Handling Complaints which will be available to book in the coming months.

A maximum of two places per agency can be booked for this course. Should spaces become available closer to the date of the course, those who have noted interest at the time of booking will be contacted and offered additional places.
